Vamp relay MMS and goose communication.

We have a system where 15 VAMP relays communicates to the CI868 on MMS and the communication from the CI868 to the VAMP relay happens on GOOSE. Initially all 15 relays were communicating without any problem but as time passed by we observed that only 9 out of the 15 are communicating without any modification of program at the controller. The peculiarity here is that the problem is not relay specific i.e. the first 9 relays which are on, when the controller is turned on start communicating, any relay which is turned on after the communication with the 9th relay is established doesnot communicate. The 800xA version is 5.1 FP4 rev D.

Hi Nishanth,

Have faced similar issue with Schneider IED's. The problem here is the Network load because of Goose. To circumvent this the min time and max time of Goose signals to be adjusted. Nomrally min time is 4ms. We had success by changing it to 20ms and max time to 1s. However we did this by splitting up signals into 2 Goose datasets. One for digital and other for analog. Analog signals were givren more time whereas digital were given less time sine they were used for Load shedding triggering.
