Shall 5.0sp2rev C with CBM can be migrated to 6.0.3.1 compact CBM?,

Hi Stefan,

We need ur suggestion on converting 800xA 5.0 sp2 revC with CBM into compact control builder 6.0.3/6.0.3.1 directly.

Is this possible by making compact control builder backup from 5.0 xa CBM and open it directly from 6.0.3/6.0.3.1 compact control builder OR we need to upgrade the system 5.0 sp2 to 6.0.3/6.0.3.1 system and take bacup compact control builder format.

I do not have that information, sorry.

CBM code is internally represented as XML; hence there is a good chance that this forward compatibility exists.

I hope someone else can fill in here.

It depends what you're really trying to do. When you go from full 800xA to a compact HMI then all of your display elements and standard integration are going to disappear. So you're going to have to basically rebuild the control structure again in PLC connect from scratch and remake all your graphics.

There doesnt seem to be much point in upgrading a full 800xA system only to then delete most of it and build your graphics again. If your SV5.0 system uses VB graphics then they are useless to you anyway at version 6. So converting to Compact Control Builder format at version 5.0 and then importing that to a clean version 6 would seem to be the least work.

It seems you have even less reason to bother upgrading to 6.0.3 first. My first approach would be to try Converting to CCB at version 5, capture the cold retain data then import to CCB version 6.
