Installation Errors

I am attempting to updat Windows 7 client machines to FP4. I have tried using FP4 physical media as well as downloaded FP4 software from SolutionsBank, both yield identical results.

When I run the Autorun.exe, the SystemUpdateTool is launched and I go through the motions. I make it past the point where you put in the service account information, and then past the Pre-Installation Instructions when I encounter the following error messages:

"AfwConfigure Warning: To run AfwConfigure, user must belong to Administrators group. AfwConfigure can not start."

"WudfKiller Warning: To run WudfKiler, user must belong to Administrators group. WudfKiller can not start."

These errors are odd because I am logged in under my installer account which is a member of the administrators group (both the domain administrators and the Industrial IT administrative groups).

After I click the 'ok' button on these errors, I go through the 'Known Problems' page and the 'If Installing on Windows Server 2008 R2' page. Then I get to the point where the media is checked and I get the following error:

"Error: ABB Software Distribution Structure was not matched from the media. Please make sure that parent directory to distribution structure is selected. ERROR: Access to the path 'C:\ShellWizardData.xml' is denied."

Again, this error pops up when I use the physical media directly from ABB.

What could I be missing?

The 800xA Service User and 800xA Installing User accounts defined in the domain must be added to the local Administrator Group on every node in the domain, including the Domain Controller node.

Try run the Autorun.exe using elevated access (Run as administrator)

Hope this help you

Hello ,

For your Windows 7 update issue trouble shooting steps is as follow :

1. Verify the Time Service should be in disabled for Windows 7 node.

2. Disconnect the node from domain and connect it again .Then go to Computer Management >> User Group >> Select administrator and add 800xainstaller and 800xA Service account under it.

For Windows 2008 Server R 2 again it is an issue with the user right , disconnect the node from domain and connect it again and follow above steps to give 800xainstaller and Service account with administrator privilege.

Reason for above solution is because location of "ShellWizardData.xml" is C:\Program Files\ABB Industrial IT\System Installer\data

When update is started it required to access the ShellWizardData.xml which contain details of Setup packages location.
