IP config tool installation

Hi,

I have a question regarding IP config tool. For some reason I have not instaled 800xA on my laptop. But I have to use it to change IP address of the AC800M PLC on site.

Could you give an advice, if can I instal IPConfig tool to my laptot without installing whole 800xA system to be able to change IP address of my PLC.

Thanks.

Jiri

Hi,

IPconfig tool is part of Control Builder installation.

You can use IP config tool included in Compact Control Builder, it should work instead of IPconfig of 800xA.

Or use VM standalone 800xA. If your laptop does not contain 9pin serial port you will need USB-to-serial adapter.

It is possible to set IP addresses of non-redundant AC800M even without IPconfig tool. Just set new IP address of Ethernet1 and Ethernet2 of your Controller in Control Builder. Push Init button of Controller longer then 3 seconds. Change Controller identity in Control Builder then.

Hi Kamil,
Thanks for your information. I just want to change IP address on my PLC, I dont have to use IPConfig tool :)
It is new information for me, that I can change IP address in the way you proposed="Just set new IP address of Ethernet1 and Ethernet2 of your Controller in Control Builder. Push Init button of Controller longer then 3 seconds. Change Controller identity in Control Builder then".

What does it mean "Change Controller identity in Control Builder then" ?
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Jiri

But I cannot go online in Control Builder, because the PLC is part of the network. PLC has initial IP address...

Controller System identity is shown in parenthesis next to Controller name in CB. It can be changed by right click on controller -> Properties -> System Identity .
I cant call in mind default IP address now. It is like 172.16.35.15. Use free tool Advanced IP scanner (Radmin) to find default AC800M IP address, I have good experience with that.

Ahoj Kamil,
I have not enough experience with ABB, I am Siemens guy :)
I have done several projects in ABB anyway - AC800M and AC450.
I am glad to learn about your code translation from AC450 to AC800M...
Jsem rad, ze jsem narazil na Vasi knihovnu prekladu kodu z AC450 na AC800M, treba to nekdy budeme potrebovat :)

Jiri

Hi Jiri,

NO, You can not install IPConfig tool seperately without Control Builder M Proffessional. It will installed with Control Builder M Proffessional only.

In case you are working on PLC Connect or Compact HMI; you have to use Compact Control Builder, which can be installed on your laptop with IPConfig tool.

Thanks,

Rachit

Why not try?

I have several times successfully used the aforementioned .exe on a temporary computer, even with a USB to serial dongle.

Is it officially supported? Of course no.

A known IP can also be changed by downloading a new IP + controller reset. Set System Identity to the present address first and if needed arrange routing (eg IP alias).

On windows 7 you can run just the IPconfig.exe , but you would probably need a mscomm32.ocx before.

Take a look at this link:

you can run the .exe as a standalone. just copy and paste it to over on a harddrive. Make sure your computer has a comm port availble in the 1-8 range before launching ipconfig. So if you're using a usb to serial converter, plug it in before launching appl or you'll get an error. i have used it several times, it works with no issues in my experience,
