I will develop client program for PLC and need help

Hello,

I am going to develop a C# or Delphi client program for ABB PLC to control all the system through OPC Server. There will be 2 pc.

Could you please give me some advice what do I need for that system?

Should I install OPC Server on client computer too? Which OPC library should I use? Where can I learn the configuration for client pc and the controller?

Appriciate for all the answers.

Thank you,

Irem.

Hello,

-Demands for the system are not that high.

-I would suggest using C# and you should install the OPC server on the client computer too.

-We use the C# viscom opc code samples library, you should be able to find it on google.

-To see what the OPC structure looks like, we use Visual OPC Tracer, which shows how the applications and programs in your ABB controller are available via OPC.

-The configuration depends on the used ABB PLC/DCS and version

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for the answer. What would you suggest me to use as OPC Server? Because there won't be installed abb ac500 system on the computer. Can I install just the abb ops server or should I install another brand?

It is preferable to use the ABB OPC Server. I only have experience with the AC800M series, but I think the basics work the same. You might have to copy some compilation files from the engineering station to the other system, but the OPC server will ask for them if needed.

Thank you very much for the help. I succeed to get data from OPC.
