I want to Fetch few Tags from ABB 800XA and want to see them on Honeywell Network(Experion)

I have 4 ABB DCS controllers and 2 CS/AS/IMS/DOMAIN servers and 11nodes which i am using as operator station.

I want to view few tags from ABB in Honeywell Experion System (On a different network), Connectivity can be ensured by placing router in between.

In this case What kind of licensing is required from ABB point of view?

Can't i use my ABB Dcs as slave so that i can write data to Honeywell (VIa modbus. if yes How?)

IF tried via OPC , my ABB system will be acting as client and Honeywell as OPC server.

What will be the PROG ID in such case. How to find it. DOes it require any licensing as a client in ABB.

The 800xA system can act both as OPC server and client to a 3rd party system.

Read about this in the System 800xA Configuration User's Guide.

DCOM access is tricky to setup; but possible (search old posts, I have submitted a number having short user's guide attached).

The most easy thing would be if external system connects to the ABB System 800xA OPC DA Surrogate server.

1. Do NOT use the 800xA Service account, or any other administration account.

2. Create a dedicated account for 3rd party access to System 800xA

3. Read about required DCOM settings. For async DCOM, up to 4 accounts will become necesssary (2x connect + 2x access, two on each side).

4. OPC tunnel software (sold separately) may spare you quite some DCOM issues

An OPC Client license is recommended. No such is enforced today, but may become tomorrow.

Hello,

I want to view few tags from ABB in Honeywell Experion System (On a different network), Connectivity can be ensured by placing router in between.

Reply:ABB 800xA supports OPC support to send data to 3rd party system via DCOM/tunneler or with funnel DB.

In this case What kind of licensing is required from ABB point of view?

Reply:From 6.0 onwords OPC client conenction license is mandatory

Can't i use my ABB Dcs as slave so that i can write data to Honeywell (VIa modbus. if yes How?)

Reply:you can use 800xA for both OPC connect (As server) and OPC support (as OPC client over OPC DA connector.

IF tried via OPC , my ABB system will be acting as client and Honeywell as OPC server.

What will be the PROG ID in such case. How to find it. DOes it require any licensing as a client in ABB.

reply:Use afwDsOpcsurrogate process to avoid load on OPC Da process and always ensure separate user "opc user" account is used to establish communication and OPC client license is required irrepsective of server/cleint.

Ensure logon as batch and log on service rights has the permission for that user if GPO has applied else reseting of the dcom/service.msc required if tunneler is used for the communication.
