Group Policy issue

Hi Stefan,

When I log off/reboot servers, they stack randomly. The message on the screen is "Please wait for the Group Policy Client...". Another issue is - we manually set Domain Controller's time. Domain Controllers should get time synchronisation from GPS Clock (when we configure it so, as we reboot it, it stops working). Can this DC time issue cause above mentioned one? What do you think?

Thanks,

Kamil.

My experience is that if a domain member's time is off by more than five minutes compared to the DC's time, authentication could fail (eg login denied).

I suppose Group Policy execution could be affected as well, but I have no experience of the phenomenon you describe.

I suggest:

1) Apply DC time sync as documented in the System 800xA Network Design and Configuration Users Guide. It is proven to work. If not, I suspect a concurrent protocol/configuration in effect.

2) Use "dcdiag /all" command on a DC to probe its health status.

3) Examine Windows Event Log on affected computers (DCs have a few more than regular computers - check those as well)

4) Repair any errors/warnings found. Use Google to assist with interpretation. Your problem is most likely experienced elsewhere, hopefully also explained on some Tech Forum on Internet.
