Freelance CBF OPC GATEWAY - NO CONNECTION

HI

System: AC800F, Freelance CBF 8.2, Freelance OPC server, PPB HMI

In one of the customer site, everything was working fine before. operator reported data not updating properly in the PPB HMI though the data is updating properly in the controller CBF Online mode.

We restarted the OPC server still same problem data is not updating properly. also after restarting the OPC server CBF OPC GATEWAY also showing no connection eventhough.

a) able to ping from EWS-CBF machine to OPC server

b) Firewall desabled in both EWS-CBF and OPC server.

kindly help us resolve the issue.

Thanks & Regards

Obviously something was changed on site. Either in the network or the configuration. Find out what it was and take it from there.

You can also use a third party OPC client and connect it to the Freelance OPC Gateway to see if the OPC client shows the data updating.

Btw, what do you mean with "..not updating properly"? Does it not update at all, or only sporadically?

Best open a Level 3 case with the Support organization.

Thank you Henkel

Some random tags not updating in PPB HMI,but updating after refreshing manually. The OPC server has almost 4000 tags in which 800 only tags.
Kindly let me know if due more tags causing this problem.

* 800 only analog tags

The limit is not in the overall tags in the OPC gateway but how many of them are used at the same time. The OPC server only requests those tags from the controllers that are used in Displays called up on the screen. The OPC server can use 10 communication buffers (NVLs) with a controller. Each NVL has space for approx 250 analog values. That makes up to 2500 analog tags from a single controller. A second controller can add another 2500 analog tags. If you have several PPB clients with different displays on the screen which use a lot of tags for animation, this limit could be reached. But the fact that you say the OPC server does appear in CBF as Not Connected points to some other issue.

You are right, the CBF OPC-GWY as Not Connected issues was not related number of points. It is because of running two OPCSVR.exe (same resouce id) running in the server with different user name.
One is configured in decom to run with IITservice account, and other one is somebody mannualy initiated. Resolved it by closing manually initiated OPCSVR.exe

We have around 5 controller, 3 OPC instances running in the RTDS server

OPC1- 3421 tags (471-analog) - Controllers M1,M2
OPC3-3456 tags (403-analog) - Controllers M3
OPC5-4797 tags (415-analog) -Controllers M4,M5

Seems ok. But open a L3 case and provide the controller diagnostic logs to the support people. They might be able to see something.
