Engineering base service in undefined state in xA6.0.2

Hi Stefan,

We have upgraded xA5.0sp2 with Plc connect and ac800m Pms lib to xA 6.0.2.

In the following order

1.upgraded the xA5.0 sp2 to xA 5.1 to convert vb to pg2.

2.created the production system for 6.0.2 and restored the backup and extended the nodes.

Here as per manual engineering base service should gets deleted automatically by system update but here engineering base service still exists in service str with undefined state as I know engineering base becomes oblete after 5.0,

How to clear that service from service str

If removing the service is the only task, just delete it like any object.

If root cause analysis is desired, then we need to backtrack and see where it breaks. I can't tell when/how this service is obsoleted, in pre 5.1 it was dependent on a MS SQL Desktop DB. If EB Service is to be deleted in version 6, it should be part of some post upgrade procedure.

Did you go through all upgrade instructions?

We are not using any engineering studio or SQL, gone through upgrade manual it's mentioned it will be deleted automatically during 6.0 upgrade

Seems like you forgot to complete the post upgrade procedure when upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1

Shall we use this procedure to clean up EBservice in 6.0.2?

Remove EBService Node from the Service Structure
The upgrade deletes the Engineering Base Service from Service Structure.

This line is mentioned in the manual (upgrade manual)

I have seen this issue before. The service is created when you restore the 5.1 system to the new version 6 servers. It is not deleted automatically. Just delete it manually.

is deleting by right click delete or clean up by EbserviceCleanUputil.exe

I'm not sure since I got rid of this service already when upgrading to 5.1.

If the 5.0 SP2->6.0.x Upgrade Guide "is right" it should be taken care of automatically.

Maybe something went wrong here?

I suggest submitting a case so that Engineering Studio support team can figure out what happened.

Does EbserviceCleanUputil exist on 6.0.x? Then you might try it.

In any case, if this should become addressed I recommend filing a support case.

Yes EbserviceCleanUputil exist in 6.0.2 as well

Then I assume it should have been executed automatically (if the Upgrade Guide is right).

If there is no automatic calling of this tool, the upgrade guide is wrong.

In any case; Engineering Studio support team should be made aware of this.
