ERROR 3622: The symbol file could not be created.

ERROR 3622: The symbol file '... .SDB' could not be created.

I am getting this error always after buliding my project.

When I open the Codesys editor, at the first project build it doesn't give the error, then I go online then offline and if I change something in my code it gives this error. If I close the Codesys then open it again and build the project, no error occurs.

The file is not 'Read only', and I have all the windows security rights to it.

Hi,

Try to perform the same steps on codesys installed on a different PC. If the error disappears, then it may be because of an issue with the software installed on your engineering PC.Doing this first will save a lot of time on trouble shooting.

It didn't occured for a while, then I assume I made a step during editing the program which started to evoke this problem.

So, you are getting the same error when you open the program in a different PC and build the program?

Are you able to export the symbol file from the context menu obtained by right clicking on the application in Automation builder hardware tree?

Hope you have performed symbol configuration at codesys>project>options>symbol configuration

I haven't got the chance yet to check it on another PC.
The symbol file is being created to a temporary folder in AppData and after every changes then build in the program it can't create the file again, and it not writes over.
I found symbol configuration but don't know what to set there.

From my experience, I believe that such issues arise mostly due to an issue with the installed software.

To rule this out, you can create a new project with the automation builder software and try to build the codesys program.Add some dummy code in the program.

Perform the same steps as you do with your original project. In case you get the same error, I strongly suspect it to be a software issue.
If no error, then you need to study your codesys application.

Symbol file configuration is explained in codesys help.

Will be able to help further only after you have tried to use a different PC to trouble shoot.

Rahil

Hope somebody sees this issue from a different angle and comes up with an alternate solution.

I created another project and got the same error, so maybe you're right and it is a software fault, just don't understand why I didn't get this message for a while.
Thank you for your help!

I reinstalled the Automation Builder, however the problem remained.

As suggested ,did you install on a different PC first. If the error appears again on the second PC as well, this will confirm that there is definitely some issue with the setup file(if setup file is same as the one used initially). If in the second PC,there is no error, then either the current engineering PC may have an issue or the installed AB software/codesys has some issue.
This will help narrow down the causes.Reinstalling should have been a parallel or subsequent step to installation on a different PC.I have never faced this problem before.Hence, suspecting problem to be in the installed software/PC.

Hi,

Further to our discussion, I suggest you install AB on a different PC first and check. If everything is fine, then reinstall AB on your engineering PC.
