Basic History Trend

Dear All,

I am facing something I have never faced before, I have a group trend in 5.1.1 having 13 OPC tags, all tags use same log configuration template and trend configuration is SEEMLESS and time average. Some of the trends dispalyed are behind time, some are displayed as per actual time and some of them are displayed ahead of time. Picture attached. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Rizwan

Traces 6 and 7 seem ”frozen”. Logging of such properties need a proper Max Time setting to paint a trend while value is stable. Max Time = 2x Min Time is a good starting point. Do not go lower.

Reasons for data ahead of time are few; most likely lack of clock synchronization. Ensure the OPC server has correct time.

Thanks for the response Stefan. Your are right about frozen because these trends suddenly got updated to current time, please give more info about how to set Max Time = 2x Min Time. All of these tags are from same OPC server that's so I am unable to understand this behavior of trends.

Max Time is an option on the Log Template, just below Min Time. Primary (raw) logs that do not receive a new value will remain empty until a new value is sent by OPC Server.

An OPC server shall not send any data unless value or status changes. No change = no trend unless Max Time is set.

Use Log Configuration -> Status tab to read from primary log. If future data is listed it normally depend on OPC Server clock being ahead of time.

Verify that all clocks are synchronized, servers and clients. AfwTime Service has a status tab displaying deviation for all active nodes and will generate system events if a deviation is observed.

That makes sense, thanks for the clarification. Hats off.

Hi,

It looks like that you have a "futures values" issue. Probably, system has 2 connectivities servers and they are not running with the same time in Basic History service. So, try to force synchronization or use applog tool, as shown in attached file.

Regards Cesar
