Ac800f download

Hi all,

I have redundant ac800f with pc a and pc b and I want to make a change on a logic to add a set/reset block.

My question is if I dowload a new program the cpu will stop to run ot not (online change)?

Also I have to dowload from pc a or pc b or both?

What is step by step procedure?

I know very good ac800m but not ac800f.

Thank's to all

A) Will the controller stop?

That depends. If you just add new functions or function blocks and connect only to variables already in the process image of the task the controller will not stop. If you create new variables and connect them to your logic or if you connect to variables already known in the system, but not used in the process image of the task the controller will halt execution momentarily (while installing the change) before continuing.

If you use incremental load regularily in small steps you will hardly notice the freezing because it is usually done within one task cycle of the usual 300 ms task cycle in process automation.

B) Will I have to download from PC A, PC B or both?

You need to do the download only from the PC that hosts the Freelance Engineering (former Control Builder F). But you might need to download your changes also to each PC running a Freelance Operations [FO] software (former DigiVis). Consider adding a fucntion block, then FO needs to know about the new faceplate.

The sequence of download should always be controller, gateway / server (if any) and finally FO.

Thank's for reply.
I want to add a set/rest block to sfc program to get a new condition. That's all
Shoul I load a whole station or only load changed?

Always use Load Changed Objects. The tool will tell you when a Load Whole Station is necessary.

Ok. So load changes will not stop a process.
Thank you very much

That's not what I said. You asked about the choice between Load whole station and Load Changed objects, which is a choice you make. Load Whole Station will stop the process and reboot the controller. That takes quite some timeand the controller restarts with initial values. Load changed objects might stops the controller for a short time as outlined in my first answer to you. But it is a short time only, freezes the outputs during the controller stop and automatically contimues with the retained values.

That's what I understood is when I use load changes there is no need to stop my process, of course the values will freeze for moment. On AC800M warm download (online changes) with freeze values for a moment and cold download (stop cpu).

In Freelance even with a Load Changed Object the controller might shortly stop execution of application tasks shortly while freezing the outputs. You can actually see the behaviour by looking at the colors of P-Tree nodes. Have a look at the documentaion.
