Hello,

the battery is necessary to retain the application program and the variable values during power down. If the batteries are empty they can no longer buffer the memory and the application program and variable values are lost. When the power returns, the controller detects that no application program is present and waits for a download.

That should happen with both CPUs, but you state only one CPU shows that behavior.

When you say the batteries are empty, do you mean the batteries have been removed, or that the display shows the batteries as empty? In the latter case maybe in one batterie is enough power left to shortly buffer the application?

Does the CPU that restarts have an SD card inserted, with the program backup? Maybe that CPU is set to load the application from the SD card after power-up?
